Senior, Corbin Smith, clinches the win with an end-zone interception as the clock expires.

After an upsetting loss in week one and an unexpected postponement for week two, the Eagles finally brought home their first win against the Fairfield Ludlowe Falcons on Friday September 24th, and it was a whirlwind.

The Eagles started the game with an open mindset after having a week off and were ready to defeat the Falcons. Right from the start, both teams were putting up points but the Eagles kept falling slightly behind for the entirety of the first half.

By the end of the 3rd quarter, being down 28-14 was discouraging and all hopes were starting to be lost by the Eagles. But, circumstances quickly improved in the 4th quarter with Trumbull roaring back and scoring two touchdowns within minutes.

In the last quarter, the first touchdown, giving the Eagles a chance was scored by junior quarterback, Hunter Agosti. The next touchdown’s extra point would have tied the game at most but a bizarre circumstance changed the game’s outcome.

A miscue on the snap could have ruined it for the Eagles but instead senior Corbin Smith, alertly advanced the live ball for a 2-point conversion. This gave Trumbull a 1-point lead with a little more than a minute left on the clock. In the last few seconds, defense was all that mattered. After being down late in the game, the Eagles put up a rally winning the game 29-28.
