2025 was an outstanding year for the film industry, and to award those who achieved excellence, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will be presenting the 98th Annual Academy Awards, or OSCARS®, live at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday, March 15, 2026.
The Academy Awards highlights outstanding achievement in the motion picture industry, and winners are presented with a golden statuette called an “Oscar.” This year’s ceremony will recognize outstanding films and people from the motion picture industry from 2025.
The biggest category of the night is Best Picture, which highlights the Academy’s decision of the “best” motion picture of the year. This year’s nominees for Best Picture are: Bugonia, F1, Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value, Sinners, and Train Dreams.
Behind the Academy Awards, there is a great amount of history. The Academy Awards started in 1929, and were held at the Hollywood Roosevelt in Los Angeles, California. Since then, the awards have been held at a variety of hotels and theaters, and starting in 2002, they have been held at the Dolby Theatre, formerly known as the Kodak Theatre. Since 1976, the awards have been consistently broadcast on ABC Network, however for the 2029 awards, they will be switched to YouTube.
The next day, ABC will be broadcasting a special edition of Live! with Kelly and Mark, which will recap the awards and feature exclusive interviews from winners as soon as they got off the stage from making their acceptance speeches.
Don’t forget to tune in to the OSCARS®, which will be on Sunday, March 15, LIVE on ABC at 7:00 PM, hosted by Conan O’Brien. You can find the full list of nominees here: https://www.oscars.org/oscars/ceremonies/2026
