I’m Maura Brunt, a current Junior at Trumbull High School (Class of 2027) and one of the Eagle’s Eye Managing Editors!

I started writing for the Eagle’s Eye in my sophomore year, so this year marks my second year on staff. After writing my first article about the THS Club fair, I fell in love with writing and journalism – especially when covering topics like school events or holidays. For me, journalism has been a fun and meaningful way to learn more about the world around me – both globally and locally – while also sharing that knowledge with others.

The Eagle’s Eye has truly expanded my writing abilities through the workshops and lessons from past editors, which have motivated me to experiment with and incorporate different elements and styles into my work.

As Managing Editor, I help plan and run staff meetings, as well as guide our staff writers through writing their own articles. I have many ideas for meeting activities and hope to encourage writers to have fun while writing, while also using journalism as an opportunity to develop their skills and techniques. As a leader, I aim to inspire other students and staff members to feel the same excitement and passion that I did during my first year and still currently feel: to truly cherish and contribute to this newspaper.

This year has already had a promising start, so I’m looking forward to seeing that continue! I am truly grateful for the opportunity to help lead the newspaper, and I look forward to contributing to the expansion and growing success of the Eagle’s Eye.

Danielle Lyon
Hi everyone! My name is Danielle Lyon (Class of 2026), and I’m honored to serve as one of the Managing Editors for The Eagle’s Eye this year. I’m currently a senior at Trumbull High School, class of 2026, and this marks my third year on the Eagle’s Eye staff, a journey that began back in my sophomore year.

As Managing Editor, I help coordinate and lead staff meetings, manage our Instagram page, and most importantly, support our writers, especially those who are new to the world of journalism. Guiding others through the writing and publishing process has been one of the most rewarding parts of my role.

My passion for journalism began during my freshman year, when I took an introductory course in journalism. That experience opened my eyes to the power of storytelling and community engagement. I loved learning how news shapes awareness and connection within our school and beyond.

As a sophomore staff writer, I dove into covering a range of topics, from DECA Club updates to national holidays and other events around THS and the Trumbull community. Writing those stories helped me understand how even small local pieces can make an impact.

In my junior year, I took on the role of News Editor, where I delved more deeply into Trumbull’s local news and events. That position inspired me to take on a greater leadership role as a student representative on the Board of Education. I also enjoyed leading outreach efforts to Trumbull High English classes, introducing students to The Eagle’s Eye and encouraging new voices to join our newsroom.

Now, as a senior and proud Managing Editor, I’m thrilled to see how far our publication has come, especially as we’ve grown and adapted in the years following COVID-19. I’m excited to continue highlighting the achievements, opinions, and stories of our students and faculty.

Ria Beri Ria Beri (Class of 2027) joined The Eagle’s Eye as a freshman and now serves as Editor-in-Chief.
