{"id":4132,"date":"2017-01-12T09:25:48","date_gmt":"2017-01-12T14:25:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thseagleseye.com\/?p=4132"},"modified":"2017-01-12T09:25:48","modified_gmt":"2017-01-12T14:25:48","slug":"2017-superintendents-college-career-readiness-forum-message-success-subsequent-to-schooling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/thseagleseye.com\/?p=4132","title":{"rendered":"2017 Superintendent&#8217;s College &#038; Career Readiness Forum Message: Success Subsequent to Schooling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kate Ariano \u201818<br \/>\n<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EE <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Features Editor<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cNo matter what it is you decide to do&#8230;you have to like what you are doing\u2026[because] part of being good at your job is being passionate about what you do.\u201d This message delivered by Mr. Eric August, a social studies teacher and Mock Trial Team Advisor, was thematic to the evening of January 4th\u00a0at the 2017 Superintendent\u2019s College and Career Readiness for Success Forum.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A panel of current students &#8211; seniors Victoria Estacio and Morgan Albert as well as junior Rudy Kurup and sophomore Kyle Beck &#8211; along with recent THS alumni was accompanied by a panel of business and education presenters to share their experiences and expectations for students furthering their education and\/or entering into the workforce. He and fellow panelist Kate Hampford Donahue of Hampford Research in Stratford were also in agreement that when someone is involved in whatever extracurricular activities or hobbies they enjoy doing, it will help connect them to \u2018their people\u2019 in college and beyond. <\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tesoro comments that by venturing out of your comfort zone and exploring the endless possibilities offered to you, \u201c&#8230;you learn what you like to do and what you don\u2019t want to do.\u201d Additionally, Assistant Professor Dr. Jennifer Parzych of Southern Connecticut State University and Dr. Mark Ligas, Associate Dean and Director of Graduate Programs for the Dolan School of Business at Fairfield University, insisted that extracurriculars are \u201cthe other things that make you who you are\u2026[and] they connect you with people who are going to support you.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As last years forum was geared towards getting involved in various activities at the high school level, this time around the need to love what you do is emphasized.
