When the Golden Eagle Marching Band performed at their first competition on September 16, they were almost unrecognizable. Gone were the familiar white jackets and rounded helmets; instead the band rolled out onto the field at Brien McMahon High School in a swarm of black and gold.<\/p>\n

The band\u2019s updated look came courtesy of brand new uniforms, which were generously donated by Shirley Bonazzo in memory of her late daughter Nicole Osborne-Bonazzo. Over 120 uniforms were provided to the band for the fall 2018 season.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the new uniforms were a wonderful gift from Mrs. Bonazzo,\u201d says Hunter Kadish, class of 2019. \u201cShe is a spectacular lady and the uniforms are absolutely incredible. We are all very appreciative and her daughter\u2019s memory will live on in the new uniforms.\u201d<\/p>\n

Each uniform consists of a black jacket with a white and gold stripe, jacket mirror, sequined shirt, gold sash, and black pants. The slimming fit gives the band a more updated and streamlined look. Additionally, the inner lining of each jacket has also been stitched with a patch in Nicole\u2019s honor.<\/p>\n

On September 23, the THSGEMB held a uniform dedication ceremony in which every band member passed along a flower and a hug to Bonazzo in a show of gratitude.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a great way to honor Nicole\u2019s memory,\u201d says Jason Eisdorfer, class of 2018. \u201cI\u2019m glad these uniforms are able to carry on her legacy.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new attire was certainly much needed, as the old uniforms were approaching ten years of use. Helmets were beginning to fall apart, and the jackets had lost their original color.<\/p>\n

Now, the band can\u2019t wait to show off their new uniforms at the Macy\u2019s Thanksgiving Day parade this coming November.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really excited to march in one of the biggest and most watched parades. It\u2019s going to be an experience like no other,\u201d Kadish said.<\/p>\n

The band will certainly be marching in style this year. The generous donation on behalf of the Bonazzo family will be appreciated by members for years to come.<\/p>\n

\u201cBand is a lot of hard work, but you know it\u2019s worth it when you set foot on the field with our brand new uniforms,\u201d says senior Sriram Mukund.<\/p>\n
