{"id":5476,"date":"2019-11-27T07:50:16","date_gmt":"2019-11-27T12:50:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thseagleseye.com\/?p=5476"},"modified":"2019-12-09T10:27:24","modified_gmt":"2019-12-09T15:27:24","slug":"veterans-day-recap-interview-with-a-veteran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/thseagleseye.com\/?p=5476","title":{"rendered":"Veteran&#8217;s Day Recap &#038; Interview with a Veteran"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Joshua Dubreuil &#8217;20<br \/>\n<em>EE\u00a0<\/em>Sports Editor<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Neya Kidambi &#8217;22<br \/>\n<em>EE\u00a0<\/em>Features Editor<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Veterans Day, Trumbull High School organized an assembly where twelfth graders and some staff members were able to recognize veterans who served in the military.\u00a0 The program started with an introduction from the staff and the emcee, and then all of the veterans introduced themselves, stated what year they served in, as well as what branch of the military they served in.\u00a0 Later in the program, newly re-elected first select-women Mrs. Vicki Tesoro spoke about Veteran\u2019s Day and what it meant to her.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Trumbull High School Chamber Singers sang two songs: \u201cThe Star Spangled Banner\u201d and \u201cThank You Soldiers\u201d, followed by the Trumbull High School Band who also played two songs. Before the band\u2019s main event, they were introduced by Senior Nicholas Siwanowicz, who performed \u201cTaps\u201d on the trumpet.\u00a0 Following this solo, the band played \u201cGod Bless America\u201d and \u201cService Salute\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Interview With a Veteran<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Neya: <em>\u201cWhat\u2019s your fondest Veterans Day memory?&#8221;<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mr. Doyle: \u201cMy fondest Veterans Day memory is when my daughters made me homemade cards in school that thanked me for being a veteran.\u00a0 Those little personal cards always make the day special.\u201d<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Neya: <em>\u201cWhat\u2019s your favorite part about being a veteran, and what does it mean to you?\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mr. Doyle: \u201cI am part of a very exclusive group, so there&#8217;s about half of one percent of the population that actually serves, so it\u2019s a very exclusive group.\u00a0 It means a bunch of different things to me. For me as a parent, it\u2019s important because I want my daughters to realize the value of service to others or service to one&#8217;s country, as a teacher it means something similar, on a personal level it represents a time in my life that was very challenging but it helped me focus so it allows me to reflect back on that time in a positive way.\u00a0 But there&#8217;s all different levels to me being a veteran.
