\"\"<\/a>2019: one more year has passed and yet another one is beginning. From sports to music to trends, this last year of the decade was packed with new experiences and memories.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Starting off 2019, in the sports arena, the New England Patriots won their sixth Super Bowl against the Rams, tying with the Steelers for the most Super Bowl wins. Tom Brady told CBS News, \u201c\u2018It was an unbelievable year.\u2019\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This quote was not only about football. In the summer, the USA Women\u2019s Soccer Team made the country proud when they won their fourth title. Their win was a hard earned, well deserved one. In another area of sports, the Washington Nationals baseball team won their division and had all their fans wild.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet sports wins were not the only hits during 2019. As far as movies go, there were many new films that took people\u2019s emotions for a ride. At the top was <\/span>Avengers: Endgame<\/span><\/i>, a well awaited movie that made close to $3 billion globally and had fans on the edges of their seats. All over social media, directors, stars, and more raved about the movie\u2019s astonishing twists and turns.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Twitter, filmmaker Kevin Smith tweeted “\u20183 hours later and I’m shook! My God, <\/span>Avengers: Endgame<\/span><\/i> is beyond epic!\u2019\u201d Even though this might be the last Avengers movie, it has paved the way for many more Marvel movies to come.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For the horror movie genre,<\/span> Us <\/span><\/i>was a smashing hit, another by director Jordan Peele. Peele did an amazing job as the movie received 93% on Rotten Tomatoes and brought in a lot of profit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The music industry was also very successful in 2019, bringing in new memorable songs that made a lasting impact on the decade. Everyone knows now the extremely catchy duet, Old Town Road by Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus. This new rap and country combo got hundreds of millions of views on Youtube and had the world singing along. Other songs like Bad Guy by Billie Elish, Se\u00f1orita by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, and Sunflower by Post Malone and Swae Lee were huge successes for the pop genre.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

2019 was also the year of new trends especially Tik Tok, an addicting app that had teens glued to their phones for hours on end.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Senior Sabrina Orazietta enjoys this media and believes that \u201cTik Tok is a way to express yourself all over a big database! I feel like I can go crazy and not be judged!\u201d In a world where being yourself is important, Tik Tok is the place to do so for many.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Through all the success, there were losses as well. More school shootings occurred, the world lost famous stars such as Luke Perry, Cameron Boyce, and Juice Wrld just recently. The continuation of wildfires in California contributed to the environmental issues the nation faces.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Although the world suffered multiple losses during this year, people have showed strength, resilience, and courage through it all. Society has proven that people can be strong even through terrible experiences, which is part of what makes the country so amazing.<\/span><\/p>\n

Coming into 2020, there is so much more in store to experience and this year lead the world to it. Through all the smiles, tears, and laughs, 2019 was yet another amazing year to be a part of.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
