For the first time in 22 years, the Trumbull Boys Indoor Track and Field Team placed 2nd at the FCIAC Championship held on February 2nd, 2023 where a total of 15 teams competed against each other in fifteen different events at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven, CT.<\/span><\/p>\n

The boys worked hard to rack up as many points as they could by trying to place in the top 6 of each event. They scored in eight events, ending with 58 points. Greenwich led with 78, and Staples followed Trumbull with 53. Fourteen Trumbull boys were able to walk away from the meet with medals, and sixteen boys got new personal bests.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Notable performances were junior Liam O\u2019Keefe\u2019s performance in the 300m dash placing 2nd, junior Dave Carillo\u2019s 1st place finish in the 3200m, senior Angelo Pisacreta\u2019s 2nd place finish in shot put, and sophomore Mason Sweeney\u2019s 2nd place finish in high jump. Other amazing performances include Senior Mchael Prizio\u2019s 6th place finish in shot put and junior Ryan Meacham\u2019s 6th place finish in long jump.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe moment I threw that personal record, everything for me changed,\u201d senior captain Angelo Pisacreta said. \u201cI\u2019m super excited to see how well my team and I do at the LL meet this weekend.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The relays were also very crucial to the team\u2019s performance at FCIACs. The 4×200 and 4×400 relays placed 2nd and the 4×800 relay placed 3rd, all achieving new season bests. The team spends a lot of hard work at practice working on perfecting their handoffs and starts in order to run fast relays.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cCourageous: that is the one word I can use to describe the Trumbull Boys Indoor Track Team\u2019s performance on Thursday,\u201d head coach Shawn Tait said. \u201cThe boys were extremely excited, and I was very proud of all of their efforts. We took down the Hatters of Danbury, the Wreckers of Staples, the Warriors of Wilton, and countless others, as we conquered, and marched to our best finish in 22 years.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Though their success was definitely allotted to the amount of work and time they put into training and practice, their sense of camaraderie and cooperation also allowed them to have fun and motivate each other while running as hard as they could. They will take on the Class LL Championships this Saturday, February 11th, at 4:00 pm at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven, CT.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
