Getting ready to dance the night away? Here’s a\u00a0 how-to for the dance, because high school events should come with one.<\/span><\/p>\n

The most important thing to have a good night at this dance, is to actually attend it. Mark the date in your calendar for when tickets go on sale. Usually they are put out around six in the morning so I would set an alarm. Don\u2019t be frightened, however, because there is usually a second call for those who struggled to get them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The next thing you will be prompted to do is fill out a table form of who is sitting at your table. As you can imagine this is crazy stressful. My biggest piece of advice is not to panic. You sit down just to eat, which is really however long you make it. Try to have at least one \u201ccomfort person\u201d with you if you need, and if not have fun branching out!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Everyone deserves to feel their best in whatever they chose to wear. Whether that be a flowy dress, or a sharp suit, confidence is the only thing that can complete a look. Feel no pressure to spend a crazy amount of money on something you will probably only wear once. Be realistic with yourself and remember –no one cares about you as much as you do. I personally have never once chosen a friendship or romantic relationship due to their style. Overall, while it may be fun to dress up every once and a while, stay away from being too excessive.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>I probably should have started with this, but you do not need to have a date. Actually, many people prefer to go solo so they can have more fun with their friends and feel less constrained. If you want to ask someone, do it! The worst thing that can happen is a no, and who hasn\u2019t heard that before? The way I see it, looking back on life with no regrets or what-ifs is worth all of the messy memories. Take control of your life and do not over complicate it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If you’re waiting around for someone to ask you, don\u2019t. You have more important things to worry about than these three or four hours of life.<\/span><\/p>\n

Many people find it intimidating to walk into such a large group of people alone, so carpool with a friend! It is also fun to get ready with other people to help ease nerves, if you have them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>I regret not taking more pictures at the end of almost every social event. Capture the moment, just make sure you put your phone down for the rest of the night.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The most important thing, especially for all my ladies out there, is staying safe. Keep your phone on you in case your parents try to get in contact with you. I always recommend going to the bathroom with a friend and using the buddy system throughout the night.<\/span><\/p>\n

No matter how much I preach about the dangers of drinking and smoking, I know that if you are choosing to do these things, you are going to continue. With that being said, do not drink and drive. Have a responsible adult or friend if you need, and if worse comes to worst, call an Uber!<\/span><\/p>\n

Overall, make the most of this amazing experience no matter what it looks like for you. Be safe, have fun, and dance like no one’s watching. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
