As a part of the school’s agricultural program, all students are required to perform a supervised agricultural experience (SAE) where they can practice entrepreneurship, working on a farm, or doing research. These experiences serve to develop independent skills outside of class time and allow students to explore and develop passions within agriculture.<\/span><\/p>\n

Clara Fruin, a sophomore in the agriscience program works on her SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience), led by MaryAnn Ciambriello, selling flowers. She helps out in the garden to gain work experience and career skills as well as earning service hours.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Sophomore, Clara Fruin, decided to work with flowers to fulfil her SAE and further her knowledge and experience. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI have always loved and been interested in flowers,” said Fruin. “Being able to work here is something I’m very grateful for and the experience has been great so far”.<\/span><\/p>\n

Working to sell flowers has helped Fruin gain experience for the agriscience program and as has shown her the importance of a strong work ethic and diligence. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWorking with MaryAnn has been a pleasure –I love helping in the garden after school,\u201d said Fruin. While the experience was stressful at times she expressed her happiness to be able to learn so much.<\/span><\/p>\n

Trumbull resident, MaryAnn Ciambriello, the entrepreneur responsible for selling flowers with the help of Fruin, has gratitude for students like Clara and how they impact the community and other business owners like herself.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHaving Clara around has been such a big help around here”, said Ciambriello. “Having these opportunities is a gift for both me and her\u201d. <\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>It’s not just flowers that MaryAnn grows, but also many vegetables and fruits in season. In a section of her garden she had fruits like cantaloupes, watermelons, and tomatoes that were ready to get picked. She also had vegetables like peppers and long Italian green beans that looked incredible. We were able to get our hands on some of the italian flat green beans that Ciambriello grew all summer long which ended up being perfect. They were in season after all.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Occasionally, you will find a pop up cart selling the flowers on Red Barn Road in Trumbull. Bloom and Co. also sells the flowers through Facebook.
