Spice Up Life with World Language Week

This year, it took place from April 1-5. Students were engaged in various activities such as door decorating, dance day, and a cooking contest.

It is spring. Time to get out mitts and put your MLB jerseys on because baseball, America’s favorite sport, is back. Last year, the Trumbull High School boys varsity baseball team competed to their best ability, winning FCIACs. This year team hopes to do the same.

Now Trending in Fashion: Color, Color and More Color

Spring and summer trends are what girls wait for. This year’s trends are ranging from the popular patterned shorts to fringed bikini tops perfect for the beach. Lightweight skirts and sundresses are great as the days grow hotter and hotter, while cropped pants are perfect for cloudier weather. Although fashion may seem like it’s only for girls, guys can get in on the new trends too. The popular boat shoe brand Sperry is very fashionable and comfortable even if you don’t plan on driving a boat any time soon.

Lacrosse: Stairway to Success

This year, Trumbull High School girls lacrosse team has welcomed many new athletes. More than half of the freshman team consists of players who are not familiar with the sport. In addition, this year a new coach, Coach Spinner, started with the varsity team.

Trumbull Eagles Baseball 2013 Preview

The Trumbull Eagles baseball team is looking forward to another strong season. After winning the 2012 FCIAC Championship last year against Greenwich 7-1, sadly their season ended in the first round of state playoffs against Stamford in a 4-3 loss.

Jane, a freshman at Trumbull High School, is sitting in the media center flipping through one of her favorite magazines. Mr. Neenan comes over and gives her a Nook in its place. “Within five to ten years textbooks and assigned reading novels will be replaced with personal devices such as Nooks or Kindles,” said Jeff Hackett, the Director of Technology, during a recent interview. If this is true, what will it mean for the way children learn and how they experience reading?

Debate Team Declared Victorious

On Wednesday March 27th, Trumbull High School squared off against St. Josephs High School in a debate for the ages. The topic being resolved was “Should The Government Regulate Social Media?” After each side presented their contentions and rebuttals, a winner was affirmed. Trumbull High School was declared victorious.

Edge of the World Books for Struggling Readers

Edge of the World Books, created by THS librarian Colin Neenan, is a website to help struggling readers find inspiration. The purpose of the site is to help students pick up a book and enjoy what they read. There are many helpful tools on the site, especially the home page, which guides the audience quite effectively towards reading choices.
