Many people enjoy decorating their homes with these objects to get into the festive spirit. Below, we have listed some of the top fall decorations for our students to utilize.

Pumpkins
This one is a no-brainer. Pumpkins have long been harvested in fall and seen as a symbol of Thanksgiving. Also, there is so much you can do with them! From jack-o-lanterns to pies to simply placing them around your house, the possibilities are endless. Freshman Maura Brunt enjoys carving pumpkins because of the fun and creativity involved. “I love to use pumpkins to make Jack-o-lanterns. My family usually has a competition to see who can make the best one. It is really fun and makes me enjoy the fall season so much more.” In addition to making jack-o-lanterns, pumpkins can also be used in meals and placed on porches.

Foliage and Pinecones
During this season, it is common to see leaves, acorns, and pinecones fall from the trees. Modeling this process can lead to other pretty decorations such as wreaths, garlands, and even lamps! While wreaths and garlands can be purchased in stores, they can also be easily made at home. All that is needed is a wreath base, a hot glue gun, and then fall toppings such as fake leaves, pumpkins, acorns, pinecones, and warm-colored flowers. You would simply hot glue the toppings to the base, and then could hang up the wreath on your door or on your wall. Another nice fall decoration is a fall maple tree lamp. It is sold in multiple stores for a fairly inexpensive price and serves as a desktop lamp in the shape of a tree. The light that it has emits warm hues, which can greatly help boost the fall mood.

Festive Food
Apples, pumpkins, maple, cinnamon, and turkey are arguably some of the most popular fall foods. Since there are so many foods to choose from, what I like to do is combine some of the foods into one dish. Some of the best recipes include: cinnamon maple pancakes, apple and pumpkin pies, and turkey with cranberry stuffing. In addition to eating more fall-flavored foods, you can also keep their scents around your house. Candles, oils/extracts, mists, and sprays are all great and easy methods to keep your house smelling fresh and festive. Bowls of herbs and flowers can also help keep the scent in top condition.

Ria Beri ’27 EE Staff Writer The end of October signifies the heart of fall, a season symbolic of pumpkins, leaves, acorns, and warm colors.
