Even through the pouring rain, the Trumbull High School Golden Eagles Marching Band was yet again victorious in their Fall Classic competition on Saturday, September 28th.<\/span><\/p>\n

THSGEMB wowed the audience at the annual Fall Classic, \u201cglitching\u201d into another successful win. This lively event, despite the weather, was full of energy and bright spirits. Schools from all over the Northeast came to participate in this competition, celebrating their love for music at Trumbull High School\u2019s McDougall Stadium. Other high schools present consisted of Norwalk, Newtown, Southington, and many others from around Connecticut.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Led by band director Joshua Murphy, the Eagles performed at 7:00 pm on the new football field, showcasing their immense talent. \u201cOver 1,700 kids [came] to perform”, according to Mr. Murphy. “This is the 42nd year\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Trumbull High School Golden Eagle Marching Band \u201cglitches\u201d into action at the start of their performance this past Saturday, September 28 at McDougall Stadium. This thrilling performance marked the end of the night for the Fall Classic, which displayed the hard work and talents of all the young performers.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

THSGEMB\u2019s theme this year is \u201cGlitch\u201d. The color guard outfits were decorated with teal, red, white and black and matching purple \u201cglitchy\u201d backdrops to top it all off. This season, the band has only kept improving, and currently keeps a first place streak. At their first competition, they scored a 71.3, at the second, a 75.12, and now at the Fall Classic, a 77.3. The THS Golden Eagle Marching Band also won caption awards for best music, best visual effects, best percussion, and best color guard.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“We get to show off our skills and all of our hard work to the town”, said sophomore, Bass 5 player Elizabeth Wendt when asked about what the Fall Classic meant to her. \u00a0“The Classic also gets more people interested in seeing, and wanting to participate in the marching band\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

For almost 40 years, the Trumbull High School Golden Eagle Marching Band has been known throughout the United States as one of the nation\u2019s finest marching bands. They have had the privilege of marching in the 54th and 56th Presidential Inaugural Parades. The band typically consists of over one hundred musicians, 25 color guard performers, and drum majors and is one of the largest programs at Trumbull High.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to all of the fun of the Classic, this year, there was an exhibition from the University of New Haven who showed what a college marching band looks like, playing into the stands and immersing the audience in music. The Fall Classic was a fun filled day filled with music, hard working students, and lots of talent all around. In addition to the bands, many teachers, parents and students came out to support the band members in their competition, selling food and baked goods to raise money.
