With the 96th Academy Awards coming up on March 10, several amazing films have been nominated for the prestigious Oscar statuette. The Oscars will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, and will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, who previously hosted the awards 3 times. Usually, the show starts at 8:00 PM Eastern, but this year, they have moved it to 7:00 PM. Oppenheimer, with 13 nominations, holds the most number of nominations for this year’s ceremony. Oppenheimer is also the 3rd highest grossing film of 2023.
There are many A-Listers up to perform and present at the Oscars. America Ferrera, Brendan Fraser, Zendaya, Emily Blunt, and more are set to open the iconic envelope and present the prestigious Oscar statuette to the winners.
Also, Ryan Gosling will perform “I’m Just Ken” and Billie Eilish will perform “What Was I Made For?”, with Finneas O’Connell, from the hit summer movie, Barbie. Other performers include Becky G, Jon Batiste, and Scott George and the Osage Singers.
As always, surprises are expected at the Oscars! Could there be a surprise performance? Who will win the top award of the night: Best Picture? For reference, the nominees for Best Picture are: The Holdovers, American Fiction, The Zone of Interest, Barbie, Oppenheimer, Poor Things, Past Lives, Anatomy of a Fall, Maestro, and Killers of the Flower Moon.
I am guessing that either Barbie or Oppenheimer will win, because they were the most popular movies of 2023, but it is all up to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences to choose. ABC Network is also hosting a free online guessing game called Pick’em, which is currently open. Just submit who you think will win, and you could win a big prize for next year’s awards.
With all of these new events and changes, it is sure to be an amazing show. What do you think of the Oscars? What is your favorite 2023 movie? Let me know in the comments.
