Each fall brings in an exciting surge of spooky makeup trends that enthusiasts eagerly anticipate. As the beloved season approaches, people are thrilled to discover which trends will emerge. This fall season, we see a delightful blend of both familiar favorites and fresh innovations. Classic looks like the smoky eye continue to tower over others, having established their place in beauty history over countless years. However, alongside these timeless trends, new makeup styles are making their debut.
As Halloween approaches this year, many fans are revisiting the beloved classic film, Beetlejuice, released in 1988. For years, the iconic looks featured in the film have inspired people during the Halloween season. This year, however, there is an addition to the film: on September 4th, a sequel, titled, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, was released, capturing the same eerie feel that fans adored from the first film. Following this release, a trend has emerged on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, known as “the Beetlejuice lipstick.” The trend is done like so: people apply a bright colored lipstick, most commonly green, to mimic the colors of Beetlejuice’s costume, followed by a light coat of black eyeshadow overtop. Users scrunch their lips while applying the eyeshadow and then release them to achieve an effect reminiscent of Beetlejuice’s stripes. The goal is to create a lip look that highlights the natural lines of the lips. This trend is currently gaining immense popularity and capturing the attention of content creators everywhere.
Although trends like the Beetlejuice lipstick are very popular currently, one makeup fad that has been around for decades and will most likely always stay true to the fall season is the smokey eye. In the 2010s, fashion lovers became obsessed with the sultry smokey eye and it has stayed popular ever since. An alluring steamy eye look is perfect for a party, date, a day out in the town, etc. Although throughout the spring and summer we reach for a more dewy and glowy look to go in favor of the bright days that compliment the season so perfectly, in the fall and winter, a dark and ashy look is always preferred. Especially during the spooky season a black eye liner mixed with a dark brown or black eyeshadow is a continuous reach for Halloween.
Whether you are spending the day at a fall festival or haunted Halloween party these new makeup crazes or old techniques can be used to give you your desired look for fall. Be prepared to see new and improved makeup trends as in the Beetlejuice lipstick as well as oldies but goodies like the classic smokey eye in people’s everyday routine for 2024’s fall and Halloween season.
