Some highlights from RCA’s past season include:
Chicago – Chicago is a hot broadway sensation that was brought to RCA and came to life on November 16 and 17th. Chicago consisted of a beautiful cast of highschoolers who put on a spectacular show including three Trumbull High students! Roxie, played by Fayrouz Connor, brought a beautiful light to the show with her comedy and extremely detailed acting, singing and dancing. With shows sold out every night it was another very successful show in the books for the Musical Theatre department!
The Miracle Worker – This show was performed by the amazing theatre department on December 6th and 7th with both nights completely sold out!! The Miracle Worker is a show about Helen Keller and her teacher Annie Sullivan and how Annie had a very big influence on Helen’s learning and life as she was deaf, blind and mute. Annie put words into her mind and helped her learn how to communicate where it counted. The acting of these RCA students was so raw and comedic, such a worthy watch. A quote from the show is “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or touched, they must be felt with great heart”. -Helen Keller. Congratulations to the cast of The Miracle Worker for an amazing show!!
Twelve Angry Jurors – According to an RCA student in the production, “Twelve Angry Jurors is a play about a jury deliberating the guilt or innocence of a defendant on the basis of reasonable doubt”. The story focuses on the interactions between the jurors as they debate the evidence, revealing their personal biases and preconceptions. It’s a really intense and thought provoking drama”. Twelve Angry Jurors was performed on December 13 & 14 @7:30pm.
Music Department Concert – The Music department is a blend of all different grades and skill levels. Every year the department puts on an amazing, interactive and overall successful concert. Some of this year’s selections included songs from Adele, Paramore, etc. This is one special show and something that all the students look forward to every year! The whole show was primarily run by students. There were students running lights, the soundboard, filming, etc. The performances took place on December 9th and 10th and it was overall two very special nights filled with amazing varieties of jazz and good vibes all around. Congratulations to the Music department for yet another spectacular performance!
Creative Media – Although Creative Media does not have any shows of their own this season. They have been and will be at all of the shows on this list! This department works endlessly to make sure that the productions you see either in the Black Box or on the Main stage run smoothly. Whether it is running lighting or the sound board. However, in our next season you can catch some of our wonderful Media students in the Film Festival! These students make short films that never disappoint. So even though you might not always see them, they are always working behind the scenes to make the shows you see as amazing as they are. I think I can say on behalf of the RCA family, we appreciate you!
