Life waits for no one. Every person throughout their lives realizes that, and as we begin to wrap up another year of Trumbull High School the seniors are more excited than ever to pursue their future.
Still, that anticipation is tempered by the nostalgia and nervousness of leaving the first eighteen years of your life behind to pursue a completely different phase of your life. For performers in particular, their many shows, plays, and events are indicative of the memories they have made and thus incredibly difficult to leave behind.
Because of this, every senior is afforded one last final sendoff show before they sail off into the sunset. Every year, THS puts on a THeSpians run senior showcase! Seniors hold back the tears as they perform one last act in front of family members and friends to close out their tenures at THS whether they were there for all four years or just one.
In previous years, we’ve seen up to 50 people in the show with performers doing everything from singing to skits to stage combat. However, this year’s group is a smaller, more intimate class of only 7 people including dedicated Thespians George Blake and Kayleigh Cintron-Henry.
Despite the small group, this makes the atmosphere even more emotional and intimate between the audience and performers. They are not getting a blockbuster send off performance. They are getting a quiet, intimate love letter to the many years of theater and talent that has passed through Trumbull High.
So far, the playbill looks like this: George Blake singing New Perspective, Mars Czarnecki singing I don’t need a roof; Caden Chaffee singing 30/90, Nicole Yerzersky singing Don’t you worry bout a thing, Eme Field singing You’re Still the one; yours truly singing I Am Adolpho, and Kayleigh Cintron-Henry singing Landslide.
Needless to say, this talent-packed roster is ready to put on the performance of their lives as they embrace the bittersweet reality of graduation coming nearer and nearer. Now it’s up to you, the fan, to come support them in their final goodbye tonight, Friday April 24th at 7 PM! Tickets are only $5 at the door and in exchange you get to witness one of the most underrated events at THS.
Let’s hope you’re as eager to get there as the Seniors are to go to college. Don’t miss the epic conclusion to four years of performance, toil, and euphoria packed into one melancholy night…
