It is spring. Time to get out mitts and put your MLB jerseys on because baseball, America’s favorite sport, is back. Last year, the Trumbull High School boys varsity baseball team competed to their best ability, winning FCIACs. This year team hopes to do the same.

“We have a lot to live up to since we won FCIACs last year, but we are definitely living up to it,” stated Colin Keyes, a junior.

The team is off to an excellent start this year with a record of 7-2, and an FCIAC record 6-1. The team lost to Masuk and New Canaan, both very highly skilled teams, but Trumbull has the talent to beat them later on. Coming up in the season, the team will meet big competitors such as St. Joes on Saturday, May 4th. They are also soon facing Greenwich, who holds the same record as Trumbull, 7-2. Trumbull High School fans should come out and support their team.

“Our senior leadership on and off the field has also been a huge part to our success so far. Our captains, James DeNomme, Casey Mack and Gerard Spiegel have helped in creating good team chemistry, which is very important,” said Head Coach Pacelli. Leadership is a great quality to have and is one of the reasons the baseball team is having such a spectacular season.

Furthermore, Coach Pacelli said, “We are getting good pitching, playing stellar defense and getting timely hitting, which is a recipe for success for any baseball team.”

The team overall has fantastic skills and they are off to an incredible season. Attend games and cheer them on. Support is always a good thing to have. It motivates the team.
