Procrastination. We have all experienced it to some degree. Telling yourself you will study for your history test after you check your Facebook news feed will ultimately end badly. Although this can’t be stopped overnight, here are some tips to manage your time better.
1) Use your assignment pad or a planner.
Having an organized planner with current assignments will help tremendously in setting a study schedule. If all of your projects are in one place, you can easily refer back to it without stressing about what you have to complete for the next day. If you have a specific itinerary, you will feel motivated to stick to it daily.
2) Study in intervals and reward yourself with small breaks
This tip helps in relieving the overwhelming feeling that comes with a large amount of homework. Set a predetermined time to accomplish one or two assignments. When you finish, take a short 5 to 10 minute break to check twitter or watch a video on YouTube. This will refresh you for your next undertaking and will prompt you to follow your agenda.
3) Have a designated place for homework
Choose a desk or a table specifically for your studies. This should be an area where there are no TVs, phones, or other distractions around. By setting aside this corner, you can concentrate more easily.
4) Break large assignments into smaller tasks
The first day you receive a large project or essay; create a plan to do a small amount every night. This will remove the hassle and stress that occurs when completing a large obligation all at once. By breaking the task up, you will feel pleased come the evening beforehand.
These steps will help you to stay on track while studying and help you to avoid procrastination. Even adding one of these steps to your study routine will benefit your school success.
