Sherry D. Ficklin’s latest book, Losing Logan,  was released last week by Clean Teen Publishing. She is known for previous titles such as The Gods of Fate Trilogy, After burn: Military Brats, and Extracted: the Lost Imperials” (co-written with Tyler H. Jolley). This book is geared towards paranormal-loving audiences who like a good mystery and some romance too. Ficklin’s dedication on the book’s title page reads: “For everyone who was ever mean to me in high school. Suck it”

Zoe Reed and Logan Cooper were childhood friends but their friendship dissolved when they hit middle school. Logan became popular and Zoe became invisible. Years later, Logan was mysteriously murdered. Zoe and her friend Carlos go to Logan’s viewing yet only Zoe can see Logan like a ghost. Zoe set out on a mission to find out what happened to Logan and why he is dead. On the mission, Zoe is thrust out of her element into the world of popular kids that Logan once belonged to. Each of Logan’s friends have a motive to want Logan dead. As Zoe digs deeper, she falls even more in love with Logan. “His moods are giving me a whiplash. I know he’s dead and all, but seriously.”

Ficklin creates real-life relationships between characters enabling this book to be a heart-wrenching ride. She shows a strong heroine along with romance all wrapped into one book. D.J Westerfield of Goodreads said, “(About Zoe) She’s feisty, snarky, a little crazy, but completely loveable. And Logan…well, I fell a bit in love with him myself. This is a DEFINITE must read!” I give this book a 9.5 out of 10 stars.
