Emergency Fun For the Whole Family!

There is something so awe-inspiring for children to see an ambulance, firetruck, or police car fly by their house that inflicts such pride and admiration for their hometown heros. It’s a childhood dream to fill the rubber boots of a firefighter, wear the prodigious badge of a police officer, or to be able to administer medicines via injection like a paramedic can do. And there is nothing more spectacular than feeding your child’s interest in a certain dream for their future. The best way to do that? Bring your entire family and children to Trumbull’s Emergency Medical Service’s Family Fun Day at 250 Middlebrooks Ave, Trumbull, CT on Saturday May 17 from 10:00am-1:00pm.

In addition to seeing all of their hometown heroes, families will be able to enjoy playing games, winning prizes, and learning “Hands-Only” CPR and first aid for pets. Families will also be able to take advantage of car seat safety checks and child-friendly practice 911 phones, all practicing good habits for the future.

Not only will children be permitted to tour one of Trumbull’s ambulances, but Trumbull EMS will be joined by Trumbull’s Fire Department, Trumbull’s Police Department, and the Connecticut State Police motor vehicle crash simulator, “The Convincer”. With each branch of the Emergency Services represented, children will be able to look, tour, and touch their respective vehicles, along with special surprise activities that go along with each branch.

In addition, Trumbull EMS will be hosting on-site Mammography screenings. The SWIM imaging center of St. Vincent’s Medical Center of Bridgeport will be bringing their mobile mammography unit to Trumbull EMS. The digital mobile mammography coach is equipped with a waiting area and two changing rooms and an attractive interior that provides privacy with the state-of-the art digital technology. Call 203-576-5500 to schedule an appointment.

Trumbull’s EMS Explorers have been working hand-in-hand with Trumbull’s EMTs to help bring this day to life, and make it a reality. Myself included (a soon to be EMT), and my Explorers as well, are excited to see how this year’s event will be. We helped organize last year’s Touch-A-Truck, and helped expand from last year to make this an amazing opportunity for families to come together and enjoy themselves. Our Explorer program is always open to new members as well, so if anyone 15 years or older is interested in joining our program, we will welcome you with open arms. Members become CPR certified, First aid certified, and we do many service opportunities and field trips that are the perfect stepping stones for any students looking for a future in the medical field.

Please join us May 17th to meet your local EMTs, Paramedics, Firefighters, and Police Officers at Trumbull’s Emergency Medical Service building. Food will be served, and there will be activities for all ages to enjoy!
