It is indisputable that Apple is a dominant brand of technology at Trumbull High School. Apple is expanding its horizons and has influenced the Trumbull community on an even larger basis with its new breakthrough product, the iPhone 6, and the installation of an Apple Store in the Trumbull Mall.
The iPhone 6 has been considered a boom and a bust at THS. One sophomore in particular, Evelyn Stelman exclaimed her repulsion for the iPhone 6.
“Apple needs to step up because there are better phones out on the market,” states Stelman, as “nothing compares to the iPhone 5s.” Most importantly, she states that Apple made a flaw in the design of the iPhone 6. This new gadget has been rumored to bend, and Stelman questions, “Why sell a dysfunctional product?” and shames Apple for not doing better. She also states that this “new” gadget is not necessarily new – the only major change, she believes, is the size. That too, she states, has been “stolen from other cell phone companies, such as Samsung.”
Despite all allegations of the iPhone 6 not living up to the typical Apple standards to critics and consumers, Jennifer Hance, a sophomore at THS, bought the iPhone 6 with no second doubts and disregarded all the negativity circling around the product.
Hance states that she “really likes her phone” and that she disagrees with all the antagonism towards it. For example, the screen, a whopping 4.7 inch display, has been widely considered as too large and the cause of flimsiness.
However, Hance argues that “the screen looks rather large but it is really not” and that the screen provides benefits, such as being “easier to type” on. Even with its size, the iPhone 6 fits in her pocket and has stayed as durable as any other Apple product she has owned.
Hance additionally commends the thinness of the product and the light weightness of it is despite all opposing speculations, with a 6.9 mm thickness. In addition, the new camera features a 1.5 micron pixels lens along with more tools to enhance the photographic experience of the consumer. Some of the additions include new features like the option to capture 1080p HD at 60 fps, 240-fps slo-mo, and time-lapse video. In Hance’s opinion, this makes the iPhone 6 even better than ever.
The contribution of the iPhone 6 has not only hit worldwide markets, but the market at the Trumbull mall as well. Prospective consumers no longer have to take the hike up to New Haven or Danbury to buy an Apple product. The addition of the Apple store, along with the recently established Cheesecake Factory, has created a greater hype for the Westfield – Trumbull Mall.
Stelman believes the mall is bound to boom. “It will bring more business to the area,” Stelman states.
Sophomore Samantha Werner agrees that the Apple store is definitely a handy tool. She claimed that she would not mind waiting in for any service necessary, especially since it is a short trip to the mall.
