THS Sports Briefs for February 20, 2015

On February 14, gymnastics had an excellent performance at FCIAC championships at Jonathan Law, taking home a second place trophy with 131.900. The meet was won by Darien with 134.200. Outstanding individual performances include freshman Natalie Smerling, who came in third all around with 35.050 in addition to earning a gold medal in vault with 9.200. Kate Burns and Andrea Veilleux also placed, coming in ninth and tenth all around with 32.3 and 32.2 respectively.

On February 16, boy’s indoor track competed at Class LL State Championships with outstanding individual performances. Senior Andres Gomez came in 5th in the 55 Meter Hurdles with a time of 8.65. In addition, sophomore Tyler Gleen ran an incredible race, taking home a gold medal in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:22.98.
