On February 26, 2015, Trumbull High’s DECA Team competed at the state competition at the Aqua Turf in Southington. Seven members from the team will be representing Trumbull High School at the national competition

The members who qualified for nationals are:

Shravan Wadhwa, who placed first in the Principles of Finance Individual Event.

Mark Curry, who placed third in the Food Marketing Series Individual Event.

Brittany Kubicko, who placed third in the Retail Merchandising Series Event.

Jacob Robbins and Courtney Arison, who placed second in the Travel and Tourism Team Decision Making Event.

Stephen D’Amato and Vlad Sychou, who placed first in the Hospitality Services Team Decision Making Event.

Additionally, Anna Ribbens placed third in the Automotive Marketing Series Individual Event.

Seven members: Shravan Wadhwa, Mark Curry, Brittany Kubicko, Jacob Robbins, Courtney Arison, Vlad Sychou, and Stephen D’Amato,  will be representing Trumbull at nationals in Disney World from April 25 – 28.

For the competition, the students had to prepare a presentation based off of a scenario given to them. The scenarios typically give the students a role in a company, such as a manager or vice president, and a problem in which the student must address using business tactics. The marketing class helped prepare the students through practice tests and scenarios.

Brittany Kubicko, who received third place in her event, was given a scenario where she was a manager of a bookstore.

“I was a manager of a large independent bookstore who was closing their one huge store and opening up three smaller stores in specific locations due to the increase of online sales and leasing prices,” stated Kubicko. “I had to figure out which book section would go in what store. I had to analyze what the town was like and what stock should go where.”

Best of luck to the team as they prepare for Nationals this April!
