As a less recognized team of Trumbull High School, girl’s golf seems to be making a name for themselves. After defeating Wilton, Ridgefield and Fairfield Ludlowe in their first four matches, the girls golf team is three and one for the season, suffering a loss from only from Fairfield Warde.

“Losing our first match of the season was definitely defeating, but we bounced back very quickly and focused on what we needed to improve upon” said Junior Taylor Brown.

As the season progressed, the girls proved they were worthy of being known and they did in fact create a word around the school.

The week of April twenty-fourth, the girls golf team made history and got nominated for the Ruden Report Team of the Week. Due to the fact that the girls were shooting low scores and winning their matches, they were recognized as a team for outstanding performances. Alongside five other teams, they competed to win not only t-shirts, but bragging rights.

“It was really cool to make history for the girls golf team here at Trumbull High. Our team does nothing but pick each other up and cheer each other on” said Senior captain Carly Netting.

With only four matches down, the girls golf team has plenty more to go to prove themselves and make it to states and hopefully FCIAC’s. The team needs to have a total score differential of sixty, when compared to the rating of the course, in order to be eligible for state competition. If the girls look to complete this task every match, they will be well off.

With the nice honor of being nominated for Team of the Week, the girls look to finish their season strong.

“I just really want to make it to states and compete to our best ability while also having fun. Our team is like a family and it would be such an accomplishment to compete well in every event we play” said Brown.

With the season just up and running, Brown is confident that there is enough playing time to prove their full potential.
