Some of you may have heard of “COVID-19”, a virus that has us all in quarantine. While being at home 24/7 might not be fun, some of these upcoming shows, movies, and video games will make time at home just a little more enjoyable. *No spoilers will be included.

Soul– December 25 | Disney +

Pixar has a fantastic track record when it comes to releasing beautiful original stories with a lot of depths and they are the masterminds behind popular franchises such as The Incredibles, Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and Inside Out. It is no surprise that many people are excited about their latest movie, Soul.

Soul is about a music teacher who has finally gotten his chance to pursue his dream of playing jazz music on stage, but his soul becomes separated from his body after a tragic accident. His soul begins to proceed to the Great Beyond, but he manages to escape to the Great Before, a world where souls develop personalities, quirks, and traits before being sent off to Earth. From there, Gardner must work with other souls in training in order to return to Earth before his body dies.

Wonder Woman 1984– December 25 | Cinema and HBO Max

Although the DCEU movies might not have the best records when it comes to movies compared to its competitors, the MCU, the 2017 Wonder Woman had been a surprising exception, generating more than $800 million at the global box office. This left fans having high hopes for its sequel, Wonder Woman 1984, which takes place 66 years after the original, during the cold war.

It is about the wonder woman, Diana Prince, coming in conflict with a media businessman, Maxwell Lord, a friend-turned-enemy named Barabra Ann Minerva who is more commonly known in the comics as “Cheetah,” and reuniting with her previously-thought dead love interest, Steve Trevor.

TV Shows
Mandalorian Season 2– October 30th to December 18 (New episode every Friday) | Disney +

Star Wars is a very well-known franchise that has been around for a long time, but its movies and shows seemed to have taken a hit when Lucasfilm got acquired by Disney. This show, however, did not fit in with this trend with many viewers enjoying this show and the first season being nominated for Outstanding Drama Series during the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards. One of its characters “baby Yoda” a character that has taken the internet by storm back in late 2019, is confirmed to be back in this show. Star Wars is a franchise that holds a special place in many people’s hearts and hopefully, this show will be able to redeem for the new Star Wars movies that felt a bit too rushed.

The Mandalorian is set in five years after the events of the Return of the Jedi and is about the adventures of a lone bounty hunter who is hired to retrieve “the child.”

Attack on Titans Final Season– December 7 | Crunchyroll and Funimation

I have just finished watching the first three seasons of this show right before writing this article and I (along with many other fans) am very excited for its final season. This show has been quite a journey for many, and there was not a single moment in this action-packed show where viewers felt unengaged. People are expecting this show to end just as strong as it had started.

Attack on Titans is about the victories and defeats of its three main characters, Eren Yeager, a very tenacious and stubborn person, Armin, Eren’s childhood friend and one of the smartest person in the show, and Mikasa Ackerman, Eren’s love interest and sister who is also a very skilled fighter. There are these monstrous “titans” who had destroyed all of humanity except a handful of people that are living inside a city surround by large walls. These people called the “scouts” are supposed to go on beyond the wall to explore and fight the titans, with the show focusing on their everlasting battle against the titans.

Promised Neverland Season 2– January 7 | Japan

While Attack on Titans is widely known and mainstream, the next anime seemingly came out of nowhere in 2019.  Despite this anime being quite new, many people had fallen in instant love with this psychological thriller, and it’s not hard to see why The enriching story and the use of music makes the atmosphere of this show unlike any other.

I can’t say much about this show without spoiling it, but I can say that it’s about a bunch of kids living on a… farm.

Video Games
Cyberpunk 2077– December 10 | Windows, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox one, and Xbox X/S

After many delays and setbacks, Cyberpunk 2077 is finally coming this December. This game came from CD Project, who are the brilliant minds behind The Witcher series. This will be an action role-playing game that is adapted from the Cyberpunk franchise, taking place in a dystopian Night City.

This will be an open-world game where you play as a mercenary named V. The player must purchase cyberware implants and military-grade abilities. The player can take cover, aim, run, jump, double jump, and slide. There are melee strikes, which can be dealt with close-combat weapons well as three types of ranged weapons, all of which can be customized and modified. The ranged weapons feature Power (standard), Tech (which penetrate walls and enemies), and Smart (with homing bullets). Ranged weapons are equipped to ricochet bullets in a target’s direction and slow them down in bullet time. Four types of damage can be inflicted and resisted—Physical, Thermal, EMP, and Chemical. Weapon use increases accuracy and reloading speed, which is manifested in character animations. While these weapons and upgrades are cool, the game can actually be completed without killing anyone, and there are non-lethal options for weapons and cyberware.
