The date for the freshman dance has been announced! The Freshman Spring Fling will take place on Friday, May 31 from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm in the THS commons, senior lounge, and gymnasium. There will be games, snacks, a DJ, and even a photo booth 360. Tickets cost $20 and can be purchased through Infinite Campus prior to Friday, May 10. The dance is for freshmen only.
As stated in the name, the theme of the dance is “spring fling.” Students should dress up in semi-formal attire, meaning dresses for girls and jackets for boys. Colors such as yellow, green, blue, and pink are encouraged as they go well with the spring mood. Braids and curls make gorgeous additions to any girl’s hair while a collared shirt would suit a guy well.

The Spring Fling event will be spread across the cafeteria, senior lounge, and gym. The cafeteria is reserved for dancing and music while the senior lounge will serve as an area for rest and snacks. Assistant Dean of Students Mr. Doyle will serve as the DJ, and pizza, sweets, water, and lemonade will be served as snacks and refreshments. Additionally, the gym will have games such as ping pong and corn hole to keep everyone entertained. To spice things up, a photo booth 360 will be used to take dazzling photos of attendees from all angles. Decorations will include balloons, paper flowers, streamers, and more.
In order to purchase tickets, freshmen students will need to complete the permission slip google form found on the THS Class of 2027 Google Classroom. The permission slip requires students to provide their contact and allergy information. Like any event, the dance also has rules, which the student must read and acknowledge before submitting the permission slip. All students must arrive and leave the dance on time, cannot drink, vandalize, or do drugs, and are responsible for their items.
While the rules sound cliché, they are so crucial in ensuring that the dance goes as planned and is fun for all. Following the permission slip, students are prompted to pay the $20 ticket in the School Store section of Infinite Campus. Make sure to do all of this before the deadline closes this Friday, May 10. Once all of this is done, students are set and ready to go!
The freshmen class officers and Mr. McLaughlin, along with other school officials, have worked very hard to plan this event and give the freshmen class a well-needed opportunity to have fun and socialize. Freshman Class Treasurer Jenny Hua states that “the class office put a lot of work into putting this event together and would love for everyone to come and enjoy it.” She is “very excited for the food and games” and “[thinks] the Spring Fling will be a very fun event.”
In order to be successful, the dance needs freshmen students to buy tickets and attend. The class officers have done their part, the school has done its part, now it is time for the freshmen class to do its part and make this a night to remember.
