As summer comes to a close, Trumbull High’s new class of 2028 has just begun their exciting high school journey! Led by THS Link Crew leaders and staff, the new freshman attended an orientation on August 21st before the start of the 2024-2025 school year, helping them get acquainted with and feel comfortable at THS.
From the very beginning of orientation, freshmen were fed lots of positivity and enthusiasm from Link Crew members, cheering them on at the start of their day as they walked into the gymnasium, possibly for the first time. Freshman participated in many activities as a whole class, from races, to dances, to even singing their first song Old McDonald, with Link Crew helping them along. The new students then received a message from THS principal Mr. Manuel, giving them his best advice and encouragement coming into the new year.
As orientation continued, freshmen were split into over 50 groups of nine or ten, and were assigned a themed crew, each consisting of a few Link Crew leaders, to give them a tour and more details about day-to-day life at Trumbull High. From Chick-Fil-A, to Ghostbusters to Mario Kart, every crew of leaders went all out on their themes to create an entertaining environment for their freshman group.
Each crew then relocated from the gym to classrooms around the school, and engaged in many activities, with every student sharing pieces of their life story, learning how to work as a team, and creating a strong sense of connection and community in their small groups. Freshmen were also able to get a sense of the school spirit at THS by wearing fun decorations based on their crew’s theme during their tours. Besides the fun activities, freshmen additionally were given many incredibly useful tips for how to stay organized, how to get involved, and how to navigate the school from the Link Crew leaders.
To close out orientation, freshmen received pizza and gummies for lunch in the commons, and were then led back into the gymnasium for a closing speech given by Link Crew co-advisor, Mrs. Intemann, who inspired the new students to work hard to make every day at Trumbull High as fulfilling as can be.
Link Crew wants to ensure that every freshman feels comfortable and confident coming into a new school that’s full of determination and connection, and hopes orientation was a wonderful experience for every new student.
A special thanks to Mrs. Intemann, Mr. Artese, Mr. Duda, Commissioners Riley Connolly and Grace Codd, Link Crew A-Team, and all leaders for making orientation possible.
Welcome to Trumbull High School Class of 2028!
