When traveling, each season brings something new to the table. From summer beach getaways to beautiful fall foliage, there is no shortage of fantastic travel experiences all year round. This is especially true during the holiday season when schools are out, and families go on trips to celebrate their favorite traditions. Here are some fun and exciting holiday travel ideas for every type of person.
For the Winter Adventurers
Winter is filled with some of America’s favorite pastimes like skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, and snowshoeing. New England is extremely well known for adventurous snow-filled getaways, from skiing in Vermont’s beautiful Green Mountains to ice skating on lakes throughout the region. Many resorts hold fantastic holiday events over winter break, with special food offerings, live entertainment, and even fireworks. These are fantastic destinations for families to travel, especially those that love nature and being active at the same time.
For the Urban Explorers
Almost every city in the United States goes all out for the holidays, but the city that comes to mind for most people is New York. New York has some of the most popular Holiday traditions in the world, including the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, the Radio City Rockettes dance company, and the numerous ice skating rinks in Central Park, Bryant Park, and Prospect Park. That, on top of all of the city’s other amazing attractions, makes New York a truly magical winter getaway. But also in the Northeast, cities like Boston, Providence, and Philadelphia have fantastic holiday activities, too. Boston’s Commonwealth Avenue Mall has an incredible holiday light display, and the city is always lively throughout the month of December. Providence is famous for its downtown ice skating rink, known for its ice bumper cars. Longwood Gardens outside of Philadelphia is also worth a visit because of its well-known holiday displays. These are just some of the many cities in the U.S. that make for a great winter getaway.
For the Snow Hater
Some people just do not like the cold weather of winter. Fortunately for them, it is always warm somewhere in the world, while still having holiday festivities. The theme parks of Florida are always buzzing this time of year, with special holiday parties throughout December. Other cities like Charleston, South Carolina are famous for their holiday festivals despite having warm weather. In actuality, numerous cities in the U.S. are buzzing this time of year with shopping, dining, and more. Truly, almost anyone can enjoy a great holiday vacation, no matter what type of weather they like most.
Overall, traveling is enjoyed by all types of people over their winter break. People love to visit new destinations while enjoying classic holiday traditions. No matter the activities offered, the weather, or the crowd level, there is something for everyone.
