Happy Fall everyone! It’s an exciting season, the temperature is just starting to change and Halloween is upon us. There are plenty of precautions, however, that we should take in the fall, just like how we put sunblock on in the summer. So, here are some tips for you all on how to stay safe this season.
As we all know, the weather can be pretty wonky and you never know what to wear. If you wear too much on a cool morning then you might overheat later on in the day, and if you wear too little in hopes that it will warm up later you’ll be stuck with the chills. Neither feeling is fun. To combat the problem, however, is simple. First, put on a short sleeve shirt you would want to wear to school. Second, layer a sweater on top of it so that way you can stay warm; and then you can take it off and tie it around your waist later if class is too warm. If you have sensitive legs as well you can do the same thing by wearing some tighter fit shorts under some baggy long pants to keep you warm.
A tip for seniors and juniors specifically involves your cars. If your car ever stops you will be stuck in the cold. It is a good idea to keep a blanket in your trunk or back seat just in case, if not a blanket, then an extra jacket to prevent frostbite. Another tip is to NOT put hot water on your car windshield to try and melt the ice and or frost off. If you pour hot water onto it, it may crack your windshield underneath.
Speaking of frostbite, there are simple clothing items to prevent it including gloves, mittens, earmuffs, jackets, sweaters, fuzzy socks (if you don’t have any, just layer a pair of normal socks), scarves, hoodies, hats, beanies, etc.
Even though it is no longer summer or spring, it is still just as important as ever to stay hydrated throughout the day.
Warm beverages or cold will still hydrate you the same but a warm beverage can also help to keep you warm, acting as a hand warmer or a source of steam. Don’t burn your tongue though!! Stay safe, I wish you all a good fall and Happy Halloween!!
